The details weren't very forthcoming, as the anaesthetics wore off. The pain was, however, and as he came to the first thing Maine tried to do was grumble in aggravation.
That just made it hurt worse.
He blinked his eyes open, squinting at the florescent lights of the med bay, letting the room come into slow focus while tried to remember just what had landed him here. His whole body ached, his throat killed, goddamn why did it hurt that fucking much?
Then he remembered. Not everything, there was a point in which his brain had simply said Fuck this shit and blacked out, unable to react as he'd tumbled off the cliff after taking a bullet to the neck.
